Seven Quick Takes

7 Quick Takes

Summer Garden Tour Edition

We buried my mother this week and returned home to what seemed like endless days of rain, gloom, and flash flooding. And yet, the sun rises. The flowers bloom. The butterflies flit from flower to flower.

Life is good.

God is good.

Our garden brings no small measure of unadulterated joy.

    • I’ll ask my husband if he’s willing to consult. We had the garden center down the street draw up some basic designs and recommend plants based on what we wanted. (native plants, flowers to attract butterflies, privacy, etc.) They did that for free, and we purchased most of the flowers/trees/plants there. We bought and scavenged rocks. And added a few plants from a local native plant sale.

These things grow like CRAZY, so we could easily thin some things out and give your some plants. Just have to figure out what season is best for that – spring or fall.

We went from boring grass to this, and we love seeing all of the birds, butterflies, and other critters it attracts. I much prefer being on our patio to inside our house!

  1. I am sorry to hear about your mom. That is always hard.

Your orange cone flowers are spectacular! I have to say I have cone flower envy. My purple ones grow like crazy, but the others either get choked out or just plain die. And, of course those are the ones that are my favorite. Beautiful gardens you have!
